We Have Something NEW to Prevent Flu!

Moderna’s new mRNA influenza vaccine, mFLUSIVA® received FDA approval last week!  This is great news, mFLUSIVA is approved for use in patients 50 years of age and over.  This is the first mRNA influenza vaccine to be licensed for use in the United States.  mFLUSIVA in adults 65 years of age and older was granted under the accelerated approval pathway based on immune responses, with clinical benefit to be confirmed in a postmarketing study.  This new influenza vaccine is another option for healthcare professionals to include in their arsenal to help patients defend themselves against the influenza virus.  Considering the shifty seasonal tactics implemented by the notorious, relentless influenza virus, superior strategies are welcome advances!   For the 2026-2027 influenza season, in addition to Moderna’s new mFLUSIVA, these flu vaccines are available at a discount through a free Physician’s Buying Group/PBG/PracticeWell membership.  Influenza vaccine prescribing information along with influenza vaccine acronyms is included below.
